The Sindh government will launch a 4-year bachelor’s program in 43 public colleges, including 11 in Karachi, starting in 2025.

In a landmark move, the Sindh government has announced the introduction of a 4-year bachelor’s degree program in its government colleges, starting in 2025. This will be the first time that public colleges in Sindh, including Karachi, will offer such a degree. Following the approval from the Chief Minister of Sindh, the official notification has been issued to commence the program.
Colleges in Karachi Affiliated with Karachi University
The new 4-year bachelor’s program will be launched in 11 government colleges across Karachi, all of which will be affiliated with the University of Karachi. The colleges offering this program include:
- DJ Science College
- Premier Government College No. 1
- Premier Government College No. 2
- Superior Government Science College
- Pakistan Shipowners’ Government College, Nazimabad
- Government Girls Science and Commerce College
- Government College of Physical Education, Karachi etc.
Expansion Across Sindh
In total, 43 colleges across Sindh will offer this new bachelor’s program. These colleges will be affiliated with four universities:
- University of Karachi will oversee 11 colleges in Karachi.
- Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai University, Khairpur will affiliate with 13 colleges, including those in Sukkur, Mirpur Mathelo, Khairpur, Gambat, Ghotki, and Larkana.
- University of Sindh, Jamshoro will be responsible for 14 colleges, covering areas such as Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Jan Mohammad, and Matiari.
- Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Nawabshah will affiliate with 5 colleges in Daulatpur, Tando Adam, Mehrabpur, Kandiaro, and Moro.
Affordable Education with University Affiliation
A key aspect of the program is affordability. Unlike many private institutions, these universities will not charge additional fees for affiliation, making higher education more accessible to students. The 4-year degree will be offered at a significantly lower cost, in line with the affordable fee structures of government colleges.
This initiative marks a major step forward in expanding access to quality higher education across Sindh, providing students with a chance to pursue a bachelor’s degree without financial strain.
