Karachi, January 2025 – The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by its President, Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, has pledged unwavering support to the Sindh Police in maintaining law and order. Recognizing the importance of a safe, economically vibrant, and business-friendly Sindh, Mr. Sheikh emphasized the business community’s vested interest in supporting law enforcement.

“We share the common goal of creating a safe and prosperous Sindh. The business community, being the primary stakeholder, stands directly affected by law and order issues. Supporting the Sindh Police is in our collective interest as they continue to display immense courage and make significant sacrifices,” Mr. Sheikh remarked.

AIG Javed Alam Odho Engages Business Community

In a landmark visit to Federation House, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, Mr. Javed Alam Odho, held an interactive session with representatives from the business, industry, and trade sectors. The session addressed their concerns and offered immediate solutions, remedial actions, and tangible follow-up measures.

Mr. Sheikh commended the efforts of Sindh Police, noting a visible decline in Karachi’s crime rate over recent months. However, he acknowledged that further measures are essential to fully restore investor confidence.

Recognition of Sindh Police’s Sacrifices

Paying tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of Sindh Police, Mr. Sheikh highlighted their daily sacrifices for the city’s safety. He urged the media to amplify these contributions, promoting a positive image of Karachi and Sindh to the global audience.

Proposals for Enhanced Collaboration

Senior Vice President of FPCCI, Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, proposed granting FPCCI access to the online FIR portal to expedite complaint resolution for the business community. He also suggested a joint seminar to position Sindh as an attractive investment destination globally.

Vice Presidents, including Mr. Aman Paracha, Mr. Asif Sakhi, and Abdul Mohamin Khan, discussed critical law and order challenges affecting transportation, ports, and inter-provincial trade. They emphasized the need for improved coordination and stakeholder consultation.

Technological Advancements in Law Enforcement

During the session, AIG Javed Alam Odho briefed industrialists on innovative initiatives such as e-tagging, facial recognition cameras, and the Safe City project. He revealed that extensive use of GPS and cellular data is helping curtail crime, while thousands of new police personnel are being recruited to strengthen the force.

The AIG announced major developments in the Karachi Safe City project, set for implementation in the coming year, stressing the importance of technology in reducing the burden on law enforcement and enhancing operational efficiency.

Focal Person for Complaint Resolution

To ensure swift resolution of grievances, Mr. Ikram Rajput, Convener of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Law & Order for Sindh Region, was nominated as the focal person to liaise with the Sindh Police high command.
