In a discussion with Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, the President of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), the PPP leaders reiterated their support for this dedicated court. Senator Rehman and MNA Qamar highlighted how the court would enhance provincial representation and equality, aligning with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s vision for the future of Pakistan.

This reform aims to complete the agenda set forth by the late Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, focusing on preventing any government from misusing the judiciary for political gain. The PPP has made it clear that they do not support any person-specific legislation and are committed to addressing the long-standing demands of the Pakistan Bar Council and the broader legal community.

Later in the day, the PPP leadership met with Haris Khalique, Secretary General of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), alongside members of the Women’s Action Forum (WAF), including Nasreen Azhar and Khushal Khattak. During this meeting, Senator Rehman stressed the importance of inclusive consultations. She stated, “The purpose of these meetings is to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are taken on board, and that this initiative receives wide acceptance, similar to the 18th Amendment.”

The PPP is dedicated to building consensus and engaging with all key stakeholders in the pursuit of establishing the Federal Constitutional Court, signaling a significant step toward reinforcing democracy and justice in Pakistan.
