Karachi University’s Mass Communication Department’s students took center stage on World Environment Day by hosting a successful conference focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on health and well-being. The event served as a platform to showcase the department’s outstanding efforts in promoting environmental sustainability.

The conference’s highlight was the “Green Guardian” project, a plantation drive spearheaded by Syed Mehmood Haider and his dedicated team of students: Areeba Altaf, Hina Mazhar, Areej Saleem, Khifayat Ullah, Awais Ahmed, Ibrahim Khizar, Zain ul Abideen, Kiran Siddiqui, and Rameen Khan. Under the guidance of Chairperson Dr. Asmat Ara and the Department Head, the team secured the generous sponsorship of Shahroz Siraaj who provided the plants, making the project a reality.

The Green Guardian project exemplifies the students’ unwavering commitment to environmental conservation and building a sustainable future. Through their tireless work, they hope to inspire others to join their cause and create a positive impact on the environment.

The conference garnered resounding success, with participants commending the students’ dedication and innovative approaches to promoting SDGs. The event served as a powerful reminder of the impact collective action can have in addressing environmental challenges and paving the way for a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
