KARACHI – April 23, 2025: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi has achieved a major milestone—its School of Business Studies (SBS) has officially received accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), placing it among the top 6% of business schools worldwide.

Founded in 1916 and headquartered in the United States, AACSB is the world’s oldest and most respected accreditation body for business education, known for its exceptionally rigorous evaluation criteria. This honor is a testament to IBA Karachi’s dedication to academic excellence, leadership development, and global standards in business education.

“Achieving AACSB accreditation affirms IBA’s unwavering commitment to developing future leaders,” said an IBA spokesperson. “It reflects the institute’s relentless pursuit of excellence, and the rigorous academic standards embedded across its programs.”

What This Means for IBA Students and Graduates

This international recognition enhances IBA’s global standing and significantly improves the employability of its graduates, especially in global markets. According to AACSB’s 2024 report, a large majority of CEOs from Fortune 100 and S&P 500 companies hold degrees from AACSB-accredited institutions:

  • 73% of Fortune 100 CEOs
  • 75% of top-paid S&P 500 CEOs

This demonstrates how AACSB-accredited schools produce high-impact leaders and innovators in business and industry.

A Rigorous Accreditation Journey

IBA’s journey toward AACSB accreditation involved:

  • A multi-year process of strategic transformation
  • Engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor
  • A detailed institutional review by a Peer Review Team of deans from accredited schools
  • Demonstrated compliance with nine international accreditation standards, including:
    • Strategic management & innovation
    • Learner success
    • Thought leadership
    • Societal impact

Now that IBA is accredited, the institution will move into AACSB’s Continuous Improvement Review (CIR) cycles, ensuring it stays on the cutting edge of global business education standards.

A Boost to Pakistan’s Higher Education Landscape

IBA Karachi’s achievement not only elevates its own standing but also sets a strong precedent for other universities in Pakistan. It brings global credibility to Pakistan’s higher education sector and showcases the country’s potential to meet international academic benchmarks.

“Strengthened by this achievement, IBA shall continue to advance business and society by delivering quality education and shaping graduates who go on to lead with purpose and impact,” said the official statement.

This is a proud moment not just for IBA, but for Pakistan’s academic and professional community, signaling that world-class business education is thriving right here at home.
