Beaconhouse National University (BNU), renowned for its leadership in arts and education, has launched a groundbreaking initiative, the ‘Clean & Green Environment Sustainability (CCES)’ campaign, to promote environmental responsibility and combat the escalating climate challenges in Pakistan.

The program kickstarted with a lively launch event at the university’s Main Ground, drawing students, faculty, environmentalists, and community leaders united by a shared vision for a greener future. The event featured tree plantation drives, workshops, and creative activities such as Painting Pots, Scavenger Hunts, and awareness marches, all aimed at fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

A Call for Collective Action

In her speech at the event, Ms. Warda Shah underscored the pressing need for initiatives like CCES.
Pakistan is at the forefront of the climate crisis, and as an educational institution, it is our responsibility to lead the way in finding sustainable solutions. The Clean & Green Initiative is not just a program but a movement to inspire collective action,” she said.

What’s in the CCES Campaign?

The CCES campaign is a holistic approach to environmental sustainability, with key activities including:

  • Tree Plantation Drives: Aiming to transform the campus into a green haven within six months.
  • Waste Reduction Campaigns: Encouraging recycling and minimizing single-use plastics both on-campus and in nearby communities.
  • Awareness Workshops: Educating students about eco-friendly practices and sustainable living.
  • Community Engagement: Partnering with local governments and NGOs to maximize impact.
  • Fun Engagements: Interactive activities like Painting Pots and Scavenger Hunts to make sustainability fun and engaging.

Student Power in Action

Students at BNU have embraced the initiative wholeheartedly, viewing it as an opportunity to contribute to meaningful change. One student expressed their excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to be part of this transformative journey. Together, we can make a real difference and inspire others to join this important cause.

Leadership’s Green Vision

Dr. Moeed Yousuf, Vice Chancellor of BNU, extended an open invitation to the broader community to support the campaign. “We urge everyone to volunteer or adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. Together, we can secure a cleaner and greener Pakistan for future generations,” he said.

Inspiring a Greener Tomorrow

The CCES campaign is more than just a university program; it’s a nationwide call to action. With activities ranging from tree plantation to waste reduction and community collaboration, BNU is setting an inspiring example for other institutions in Pakistan to follow.
