Journalists in Karachi often face a demanding schedule, balancing fieldwork and desk duties with little time for mental relaxation, networking, and entertainment. To address this, the Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) frequently organizes events to provide a platform for media professionals to connect and unwind.

On Saturday, 27th July, the KUJ hosted a lively Mango Party at the Karachi Press Club, drawing a large number of journalists and media workers who came together to enjoy the “King of Fruits.” The event, which follows a recent Halim gathering, highlighted KUJ’s commitment to fostering a sense of community among its members.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat, setting a respectful and serene tone for the gathering. Syed Nabil Akhtar, Secretary of KUJ, welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude for their presence.

In his speech, KUJ President Hamid-ur-Rehman announced the names of the newly appointed unit chiefs for various institutions, emphasizing the importance of leadership in driving the union’s objectives forward.

The event was graced by notable figures such as the former Secretary of the Karachi Press Club and Secretary General of PFUJ, A.H. Khanzada; former President of the Karachi Press Club, Fazil Jamili; and former secretaries Arman Sabir and Muhammad Rizwan Bhatti and former secretary of KUJ Naimat Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, PFUJ General Secretary A.H. Khanzada highlighted the significance of such gatherings in bridging differences and resolving issues. “These occasions are an opportunity to forget personal differences and work towards solving our collective problems. Let’s use this time to embrace each other and strengthen our community,” he said.

The mango party was not just a celebration of the delicious fruit but also a testament to the unity and camaraderie among Karachi’s journalists. Alongside the succulent mangoes, the crowd enjoyed the sweet taste of “Lassi,” adding a unique flavor to the event.

KUJ’s efforts in organizing such events underscore the importance of mental well-being and networking in the high-pressure world of journalism. By creating these spaces for relaxation and connection, the union continues to support its members in meaningful ways.
