KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced that the 12th Edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024 is poised to elevate Pakistan’s global standing in the defense sector by fostering stronger strategic relationships and commercial exchanges. Scheduled to take place from November 19 to 22 at the Karachi Expo Centre, IDEAS 2024 will attract delegates, trade visitors, defense officials, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) from Pakistan and across the globe.
Addressing the 3rd Steering Committee meeting on IDEAS 2024, Chief Minister Shah emphasized the event’s significance in strengthening Pakistan’s ties with international partners. “IDEAS 2024 is not only a platform for showcasing advanced defense technology but also a vital meeting ground for dialogue on defense, security, and global peace,” he said.
The high-level meeting was attended by key officials, including Provincial Ministers, Major General Asad Nawaz Khan (Hilal-i-Imtiaz Military), Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and representatives from federal ministries, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and various Sindh government departments. This gathering aimed to finalize comprehensive plans for IDEAS 2024, which has become a hallmark of Pakistan’s defense industry since its inception in 2000.
Highlighting the evolution of IDEAS, Mr. Shah shared that the biennial event has transformed into a globally recognized platform, celebrating cutting-edge technology and enabling knowledge exchange. “IDEAS has deepened our mutually beneficial relationships worldwide, contributing to a shared commitment to global peace, stability, and prosperity,” he added.
Chief Minister Shah stressed the importance of meticulous planning for a seamless execution of the event, recognizing the collective efforts of various government bodies. “Today’s meeting enables us to assess our alignment with the plans and reinforces our determination to make IDEAS 2024 a success story for Pakistan. My government remains fully committed to supporting this extraordinary event,” he affirmed.
In the session led by the Director General of the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Major General Asad Nawaz Khan, officials reviewed finalized plans covering administration, security, and support arrangements. As the event’s scope broadens, the Karachi Show, exclusively organized for residents, will be held at Sea View (Nishan-e-Pakistan) on November 21.
The DG DEPO highlighted IDEAS 2024’s diverse activities, including demonstrations of cutting-edge defense technology, international seminars, and cultural showcases, further emphasizing opportunities for business expansion through Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Government (B2G) engagements.
Zohair Naseer, CEO of Badar Solutions and Event Manager for IDEAS 2024, expressed gratitude for the support from Pakistan’s armed forces, federal and provincial governments, and law enforcement agencies. “With such collaborative support, IDEAS 2024 will be executed in a fitting manner, showcasing Pakistan’s commitment to advancing in the defense sector,” he noted.
Government bodies and departments collectively pledged their support for the event’s success, reaffirming IDEAS 2024 as a premier defense and trade platform that strengthens Pakistan’s global footprint in defense and commercial partnerships.
