- Pending Stipends: A Call for Immediate Financial Relief for Medical Staff
Karachi: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) JPMC, under the leadership of Dr. Mahboob Noonari, Chairman YDA Sindh, held a crucial cabinet meeting to address pressing challenges medical professionals face and demanded immediate action to resolve key issues.
Merit-Based NTS Tests for Residency Programs
The YDA emphasized ensuring merit-based selection for the upcoming NTS tests for FCPS and MCPS residency programs scheduled on January 5, 2025. They called for forming a transparent selection committee comprising senior faculty members to eliminate bias and favoritism in the selection process.
Ward Allotment Transparency
A demand to re-conduct interviews for ward allotment of house officers was also raised. The YDA stressed the need for transparency and impartiality to ensure fairness.
Action Against Harassment Allegations
The meeting highlighted serious allegations against the Head of the Urology Ward, accused of harassing a female doctor. The association urged swift action to ensure a safe working environment for medical staff.
Pending Stipends and Immediate Release
Another major concern was the delayed stipends for house officers and postgraduate trainees. The YDA demanded the immediate release of these pending payments to alleviate financial pressures on the medical staff.
Protests and OPD Boycott Warning
The YDA issued a strong warning to the administration, urging them to address these concerns promptly. They cautioned that failure to meet their demands could lead to protests and a boycott of outpatient departments (OPDs).
The association reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair, transparent, and safe working environment for all medical professionals at JPMC.
