In a significant development, Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) has announced the conclusion of nationwide sit-ins held in solidarity with the people of Parachinar. The decision follows the signing of a peace agreement in Kurram District, aimed at restoring stability in the region.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, MWM Chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas declared an end to the protests, including those in Karachi and Islamabad. He emphasized the importance of implementing the peace agreement and urged the government to take immediate steps to honor its commitments.

“All participants of the sit-ins should now return to their homes peacefully. I appeal to Bilawal Bhutto to investigate the tragic incident that led to this movement and ensure justice for the oppressed,” he stated.

Allama Nasir Abbas explained that a grand jirga held in Kohat successfully brought both sides to the negotiation table, resulting in the agreement. He added that the responsibility now lies with the government to ensure its implementation.

As part of the agreement, 400 personnel will be recruited to secure the roads leading to Kurram and safeguard Parachinar District. The MWM chief expressed gratitude to those who supported the oppressed and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the aftermath of the agreement.

It is worth noting that over twelve sit-in locations were active across Karachi. The city’s atmosphere turned tense yesterday as police and protesters clashed, escalating fears and unsettling daily life. This announcement brings much-needed relief to Karachiites, as life in the bustling city was disrupted due to the unrest.

By ending the sit-ins, MWM has called for solidarity and a focus on ensuring that the peace accord brings lasting stability to the region.
