Karachi: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, in collaboration with its Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (IBA-CED), successfully hosted the Winter Immersion Program 2024 at its City Campus. This impactful event brought together renowned international trainers, entrepreneurs, and academic professionals to emphasize the significance of entrepreneurship education, research, and incubation management in the academic landscape.

Dr. S. Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director of IBA Karachi, delivered the keynote address, urging a paradigm shift in the curriculum to align with the ever-evolving world of entrepreneurship. Highlighting the importance of creative thinking, Dr. Zaidi stated, “Workshops such as this allow participants to think creatively to keep up with changing trends in business.

Renowned Trainers Conduct Specialized Workshops

The program featured two high-impact workshops led by international experts:

Fostering Entrepreneurship in Academia

Conducted by Dr. Sanna Ilonen, a University Teacher, and Mr. Joachim Ramstrom, an Education Expert on Entrepreneurship and innovation Education at the University of Turku, this workshop focused on developing tools and resources to create engaging entrepreneurship modules. With over two decades of combined expertise, the trainers engaged participants, including university faculty, incubation center staff, and media professionals, in interactive discussions and case studies.

Elevating Innovators and Incubators

This session, led by Islam Mohamed, Chief Investment Officer at Arweqah Al Reyadah, Saudi Arabia, provided hands-on insights into designing and managing thriving university-based incubator programs.

Immersive Learning and Knowledge Exchange

A blend of lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies made the Winter Immersion Program a truly enriching experience for the participants. The workshops encouraged collaboration and highlighted the tools required to bridge academia and entrepreneurship effectively.

Closing Remarks and Future Outlook

In her closing remarks, Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director of IBA-CED, expressed gratitude to the speakers and participants. She emphasized the program’s role in fostering knowledge exchange and structured discourse. “There was a dire need for universities and incubators to engage in such activities and workshops where structured dialogue took place,” she said.
